Volunteer Workdays
Supervised volunteer workdays happen each Saturday of September and the 6th of October. Bring a sack lunch.For these workdays, volunteers will be primarily assisting in the Nursery at Griffith Woods. This is where plants are nurtured for transplanting into the savanna or used to fundraise to support restoration of native species. Additionally, we will be removing invasive species and weeding the running buffalo clover as well as other beds.
If sufficient and knowledgeable volunteers are present, we may also be collecting blue ash seed from the savanna. These will be sent to the National Seed Bank to guard against loss of trees to the emerald ash borer.
Bring clippers or lopper, gloves, bug spray, sun screen, and a sack lunch. Please address questions or comments to Melinda or Frank Boyer at 859-319-2910.
October 13th Membership Event
The October 13th Membership Event, 3 - 5 p.m., will feature tours of the Nursery at Griffith Woods, light refreshment, and plants for sale. An extended site tour will take place beginning at 5 p.m.
